⸻
- Surface Preparation and Existing Conditions
6.1 Preparation
Proper preparation is essential for coating adhesion and finish quality. Preparation may include:
• Cleaning
• Degreasing
• Sanding
• Filling
• Priming
• Masking
• Minor repairs
6.2 Existing Damage
The Company is not responsible for:
• Existing defects;
• Corrosion beneath coatings;
• Rotten timber;
• Failed seals;
• Water ingress;
• Peeling or failing existing coatings;
• Structural movement;
• Cracked render or masonry;
• Manufacturing defects;
• Damage caused by age or poor installation.
6.3 Colour Matching
While every effort is made to achieve accurate colour matching, exact matches cannot be guaranteed due to:
• Existing substrate colour;
• Material type;
• Lighting conditions;
• Ageing and fading;
• Batch variations.
⸻
- Spraying Conditions
7.1 Weather Conditions
Exterior spraying is weather dependent.
The Company reserves the right to postpone or reschedule works due to:
• Rain;
• Wind;
• High humidity;
• Extreme temperatures;
• Unsafe conditions.
This is to ensure finish quality and safety.
7.2 Overspray Risks
Although extensive masking and protection procedures are used, spraying carries inherent overspray risks.
The Customer must ensure:
• Vehicles are removed from nearby areas;
• Windows and doors remain closed;
• Access to work zones is restricted during spraying.
7.3 Dust, Insects and Environmental Contamination
All spraying works carried out by Astral Coatings Ltd are completed on-site and are not factory-controlled or spray booth finishes.
While every effort is made to achieve a high-quality professional finish, exterior and on-site spraying environments can be affected by uncontrollable environmental conditions including:
• Dust particles
• Airborne contamination
• Pollen
• Insects or flies
• Debris carried by wind
• Temperature and humidity changes
As a result, minor inclusions, particles, or insects within the cured coating may occasionally occur and shall not be considered a defect or grounds for rejection, remedial work, or compensation where the overall finish remains within professional trade standards.
The Company will not be liable for issues arising where instructions have not been followed.
⸻
- Kitchens
8.1 Kitchen Preparation
Customers must remove all items from cupboards, worktops, and surrounding areas before work begins unless otherwise agreed.
8.2 Existing Damage
The Company is not responsible for pre-existing:
• Swelling;
• Peeling;
• Heat damage;
• Water damage;
• Loose vinyl wrapping;
• Damaged hinges or fittings.
8.3 Cure Time
Freshly sprayed kitchen surfaces require curing time.
Customers must avoid:
• Heavy cleaning;
• Harsh chemicals;
• Scratching;
• Excessive heat;
• Impact damage.
The Company will provide aftercare guidance.
⸻
- uPVC Windows, Doors and Garage Doors
9.1 Suitability
Not all uPVC or composite surfaces are suitable for spraying.
The Company reserves the right to refuse work where surfaces are excessively damaged, contaminated, deteriorated, or unsuitable.
9.2 Existing Seal Failures
The Company accepts no responsibility for failed glazing units, condensation between panes, failed seals, warped panels, or defective hardware discovered before, during, or after spraying.
9.3 Masking and Overspray
Astral Coatings Ltd uses professional masking procedures to protect glass, rubbers, silicone, brickwork, render, handles, hinges, and surrounding areas during spraying works.
However, due to the design and construction of certain uPVC windows, doors, frames, seals, opening shuts, hinges, brackets, silicone joints, and rubber gaskets, not all areas are fully accessible for masking.
Customers acknowledge that:
• Masking tape may not always adhere perfectly to aged, textured, dirty, deteriorated, or flexible rubber and silicone surfaces;
• Some tight gaps, internal edges, rubbers, window shuts, hinges, brackets, and recessed areas may be inaccessible;
• Minor overspray on hidden edges, rubbers, silicone, seals, or inaccessible areas may occur as part of the spraying process.
Astral Coatings Ltd will take reasonable care to minimise overspray wherever possible, but minor overspray in these areas shall not be considered a defect where reasonable professional masking procedures have been followed.
9.4 Rubber Seal Impressions During Curing
Following uPVC spraying works, windows and doors may need to remain closed overnight or during the curing period while the coating hardens.
Customers acknowledge that rubber seals, gaskets, and weather strips may temporarily press against freshly sprayed frames, sashes, or doors during this curing process.
As a result, minor rubber impressions, pressure marks, lines, or texturing may appear where the rubber contacts the newly sprayed surface.
This is a normal characteristic of on-site uPVC spraying and curing and is not considered:
• A defect;
• Poor workmanship;
• Product failure; or
• Grounds for remedial works, refunds, or warranty claims.
JR Architectural Spraying will take reasonable care to minimise this where possible, however complete prevention cannot always be guaranteed during the natural curing process of sprayed coatings.
⸻
- Render, Brickwork and Masonry
The Company is not responsible for:
• Cracks reopening due to movement;
• Damp or moisture issues;
• Structural defects;
• Failing render;
• Salt contamination;
• Efflorescence;
• Hidden substrate issues.
Render and masonry coatings may vary slightly in appearance depending on substrate texture and absorption.
⸻
- Cladding, Shopfronts and Shutters
The Customer is responsible for ensuring:
• Access permissions are in place;
• Businesses and occupants are informed;
• Areas are cleared where necessary.
The Company shall not be liable for delays caused by restricted access, trading restrictions, or third-party contractors.
⸻
- Completion of Works
12.1 Inspection
The Customer must inspect the work upon completion and notify the Company of any concerns within 48 hours.
12.2 Acceptance
Works shall be deemed accepted if no issues are raised with the Company within 48 hours of completion.
Minor imperfections visible only upon extremely close inspection or under specialist lighting shall not be considered defects.
⸻
- Warranties and Guarantees
13.1 Warranty Coverage
Any warranty provided covers coating adhesion and product performance only, subject to proper maintenance and normal use.
13.2 Warranty Exclusions

⸻
